Scottlyn Hurd – Dancer, Scholar, and Creative Spirit

Scottlyn Hurd is a dynamic sophomore at the prestigious Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas,Texas where she hones her craft in the esteemed Dance Conservatory. Since attending BTWHSPVA, she has showcased her talent in notable performances such as the African American Heritage Show, Creations, Choreographic Workshop, and was recently cast in the dance ensemble for the 2024 All-School Musical, On Your Feet: The Story of Gloria and Emilio Estefan.

A passionate dancer since the age of three, Scottlyn has dedicated herself to mastering a wide range of dance styles, training at both local and international dance schools. Her commitment to growth and excellence has led her to prestigious summer dance intensives and workshops, including programs at the Joffrey Ballet, Dance Up Dallas, and Alvin Ailey workshops, where she refined her technique and deepened her artistry.

Currently, Scottlyn is honored to serve as the newest member of her church’s incredible dance ministry, where she combines her love of dance with her faith, using movement to inspire and uplift others. For Scottlyn, dance is more than just an art form—it’s her voice, a powerful way to express herself and showcase the talents the Lord has blessed her with.

A social butterfly and compassionate spirit, Scottlyn’s interests extend beyond the dance studio. She has a love for languages, speaks French fluently, and has studied Mandarin, reflecting her curiosity about diverse cultures. Her passion for the arts also shines through in her appreciation for both visual and performing arts. In her free time, she enjoys creating memories with family and friends, exploring new recipes in the kitchen, immersing herself in music, drawing or painting, and binge-watching her favorite Netflix shows. Scottlyn’s vibrant spirit, dedication, and love for the arts continue to inspire those around her, both on and off the stage.
